This one yr the band i was in ATT played the Milwaukee State Fair, & we always stayed at the Hyatt downtown, & every yr at that exact same time they were holding a D&D/sci-fi/harry pothead type convention there. Holey science-friction, I never saw so many sci-fried land of the lost as at that hotel during that time!! [img]graemlins/sure.gif[/img] Or...it was like living in a Geo Romero film for a wk & 1/2 [img]eek.gif[/img] ...I mean I liked Trek & Wars & all, but...scawwy, Mr Spock. Wow Clintuplet!!! Nice. Bozzio, Portnoy, and some others have huge drumkits. When should a drummer stop adding to their drumkit? There should be a lot interesting answers on this subject.

Brian Frasier-Moore has drums that he can't even reach! A lot of his set doesn't even look functional... looks for show.

Aw, let TB have at it. So he wants to play drums as if it were a piano, more power to him. It's his ongoing evolutionary gimmick, a good one at that. At least it has some substance. [img]cool.gif[/img]

But he's far surpassed the amount of the 88 keys factor!

...& good freekin luck with all those geometrical angles & clamps/wingnuts/washer/lugs. I have a hard time getting that 1 splash near the 1st tom, Lcrash, & hats to be positioned just the way i like it. & even THAT can change over days, weeks, & months! It prob took him all these yrs to get it positioned just right...only to feel like changing half of it a few months later!

...prob also needs a degree in geometrical & engineering...his CREW, that is. [Where's all this bread dough coming from?!] [img]tongue.gif[/img] Who pays for the charter that hauls all this stuff AWA set-up platoon, & the grub to feed them [you KNOW they get hungry, tired, & thirsty aft all that!!] ;-p

Good points Match!!! Hey Matricks!!! Who is Brandon playing with now? I talked to him at Winter NAMM 2005. He's a very nice guy.

For me, I'm not interested in whether the kit is large or small, only what the drummer does while behind it. Sometimes I'd be curious to hear what Bozzio would sound like on a five piece kit, but because I enjoy his playing, I don't demand he reduce his kit just because it keeps getting bigger.
I think if you enjoy a particular player you'll enjoy listening to them regardless of what elements they decide to add or take away from their kits.
